Therapeutic offerings
Daphne’s therapeutic offerings has helped many who are dealing with chronic pain, auto-immune dysregulation, neurological conditions, as well as complex trauma. Her work focuses on a trauma-informed holistic healing approach as well as body-mind integration, working with each person’s unique health and well-being.
“I saw Daphne for a back injury. Her methods were holistic in nature as she worked on my legs and spine to make sure everything is in alignment. She was patient and gentle with her touch. Always checking in with me to make sure I’m okay during the adjustments. She also gave me tips to help myself after our session to strengthen the muscles that are “asleep” so that my condition doesn’t come back. After 5 days of resting and doing the exercises she recommended, I recovered completely and felt even better than before I saw her. I feel my movements more symmetrical and no strain in my back at all. Highly recommend Daphne to people who are suffering from structural issues like I did!”
Sharon Tan, Wellness Practitioner
These one-on-one therapeutic sessions are an alchemy of my studies and work in Yoga therapy, somatic therapy & functional movement, as well as various bodywork modalities to guide you in honing your sensory awareness and uncovering habitual holding patterns. It involves body and movement assessment, identifying and releasing trigger points, as well as cultivating myofascial integration through touch, breath, visualisation and sound. In each session, I will hold space for your body to settle into a resting state for new neural pathways to form, for systems to restore, reintegrate and recover. Overview of our therapy offerings
Somatic Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy is a complementary health approach that include postures, movements, breath work, relaxation techniques, guided imagery, sound, mindfulness etc, specifically tailored to the individual to improve physical, mental and emotional well being and customised to the lifestyle and therapeutic needs of each person. It is a holistic therapeutic framework that empowers the individual to actively participate in their own healing journey in the integration of mind, body and spirit. Each session is 90 to 120 minutes in person, or via Skype or Facetime.
Integrated Bodywork / Functional Movement & Rehabilitation
With a focus on breath, bone rhythms, body-mind connection, and myofascial meridians, this somatic and inquiry work guides the recipient into cultivating sensory and kinesthetic awareness, so as to uncover habitual patterns which might be manifesting as chronic conditions in the body. Through body scans, breath, sound, and neuro-motor repatterning, we can release deep holding patterns, rehabilitate injury, bring clarity to a sense of well-being and rewires new pathways for more ease in movement and life.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling is a form of physical therapy. It works by triggering neuro-musculoskeletal muscle points to treat energy channels, muscle pain, and movement problems. This technique uses needles to target tight or dysfunctional bits of muscle length and related tissue, through applying small needles through the skin in order to hit trigger points. The needles are intended to trigger a natural twitch response and healing in the affected area. By bringing in the foreign object, the body notices a problem and will respond by increasing blood flow and a stream of productive hormones to help the region. This can mitigate and even help cure a number of musculoskeletal issues.
Myofascial Decompression / Cupping
Myofascial decompression or cupping is a therapy that helps treat musculoskeletal disorders by using suction to create negative pressure underneath the cup. Originally fire was used to create the suction, but more recently a simple pump is used. The negative pressure helps to decompress the area by lifting the skin and the layer of tissue underneath the skin, the fascia, up into the cup. This creates space for the underlying tight muscle to lay down and relax. Cupping also helps bring blood flow to the area in need. Blood carries important nutrients which help with tissue healing. We use myofascial decompression to address compensatory movement patterns. This is done by adding movement with treatment. Movement can be in the form of sliding the cups over the necessary tissue or leaving the cups static while moving body parts.
Abdominal Detox Massage
This modality will focus on slow, deep, abdominal massage in order to stimulate, release & increase motility of the internal abdominal organs. This will restore the digestive system, decrease bloating and heaviness, and allow the organs to work more efficiently to improve physical and emotional health.
Therapeutic Bodywork / Sports Massage
Each session is tailored according to the area(s) you would like to focus on, integrating Thai Yoga massage techniques, myofascial tissue work, neuromuscular facilitation, and joint mobilisation to restore your body’s balance.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
BCST is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that addresses the cranium, spinal column and sacrum. The goal is to release compression through the spinal column and the central nervous system to alleviate pain and create new neural pathways by facilitating very own body intelligence to start the healing process, reintegrate, and restore homeostasis.
